At NoVA Maker Faire 2024

by Kathleen McCabe, Mike Weitman, Amanda Jarvis

The Rag Tones Garden explores the transformative power of repurposing and reimagining textiles. This exhibit features interactive musical instruments crafted from reclaimed fibers, offering a multi-sensory experience. These unique instruments not only produce sounds but also invite interaction through touch and visual appreciation of the rich textures and materials. The beauty and potential of old fabrics are rediscovered as they come alive in a symphony of creativity and sustainability.

Participants enter the garden through a musical, interactive archway, marked by the return of the "Rag Harp" from the 2019 Maker Faire. Beyond the archway lies a musical garden filled with newly interactive instruments and plants that make their own music.
